Do you ever sometime get that creative spark just kicking but you sit there not knowing what to do with it? Motivation strikes at the strangest time for us creatives, whether it be lunch time or 3am. I know I have actually gotten up from full sleep wide awake going “I have to do something!” BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Here’s a list of some great things to do when that creative spark hits and you don’t know where to put all that energy.
- Write someone who inspires you a letter (Not an email or a facebook message!)
- Dye your hair. Read this first!
- Organize your music or photos on your computer!
- Find an odd topic that interests you an go on a Wikipedia quest
- Knit. (My sister does some amazing knitting!)
- Start a blog! (That’s how I destroy my boredom!)
- Create an inspiration folder. Find images on Flickr that inspire you.
- Learn Photoshop or In Design (Trust me it will come in handy!)
- Watch a awe inspiring documentary (The Nomi Song or Baraka)
- Make a scrapbook or memory box with all your old photos and scraps!
- Write a list of places you want to travel. Post this on your door.
- Play around with new makeup styles (Here’s the products I recommend!)
- Bake cupcakes and make your neighbors jealous!
- Start a Youtube favorites list of all those music videos that inspire you!
- Connect with a loved one. Ask those questions!
- Make a fan club for yourself! Here’s mine for Facebook and Twitter!
- Still bored? Try Neatorama.com or Sidawson.org for some inspiration.

I love the idea of Destroying boredom!!! I have a problem with what to do with my creative ideas. I’m more of a thinker/idea fountain, but I have a problem making them happen. Maybe it’s motivation, or lack of confidence, but I love these fun and creative ideas. I think the world needs a Miss Destructo live ustream channel! Make it happen, Stat!
Make love is a nice way to destroy boredom as well!..;as far as you have someone to make love with at that moment of course !
Great list! I go active when I have that capped fire hydrant feeling- usually mountain biking or running. for mellower boredom crushers funny blogs/sites like f@*k you penguin, fail blog, and passive aggressive and just plain aggressive notes are always good for a laugh.
The old blogroll scroll of time suckery.
Awesome list! I used to bring my knitting and crocheting to work with me, to work on while I wasn’t busy, but then I got busy! Woot!! Now it just hangs around the house, amusing my cats…
