Well, every good thing must come to an end. As you may have heard we just moved into a new apartment after new management at Mr. D’s old apartments in Greenville, SC had turned a very nice community and affordable, well kept apartments into a place where I was scared to even walk the dog at night. Forget community, most of the neighbors are the most unfriendly and disrespectful people you’ll meet with screaming children, roaming uncared for pets and stereos cranked at all hours. I’ve lived in much worse and can deal with trains, bugs and crack houses next door, but that place is going downhill quick into being a nightmare. Which is very saddening because it’s a beautiful complex with nice apartments that are probably going to be destroyed now due to management not caring about health and safety of residents. Oh except, dog poop and cigarette butts. That’ll be a five dollar charge.
I don’t know how someone who’s responsibility to take CARE of an apartment complex could decide it would be a good idea to force out, paying quiet residents who take care of their property and move in people that are shoved by the ten fold into tiny apartments, shooting at cops, not paying the rent, destroy property and making everyone else want to leave… making MORE work for management and staff not to mention the amount of bad press and crime reports. Of course… some people think that dogs can’t look up.
As you know, I usually will never ever speak a bad word about anyone unless it’s a risk to the health and safety of others. I would hate for anyone else to have to move in there thinking it’s a great place and have to endure what we went through. Frankly everyday I was awaiting someone to break in to the apartment or steal our car. I dealt with it and named all the roaches that lived in the bathroom until recently I had a group of people come up to the window and look into our apartment when I was home alone at night, that was the straw that broke Destructo’s back.
Before the management changed Mr. D (AND his dog) had severe health problems (and permanent eye damage) in his old apartment at the same complex before I traveled here due to mold that built up after two years of the building being flooded. After he started getting ill (he’s pretty darn healthy!) we started inspecting the apt and there was black fuzzy stuff covering under the carpet, in the walls, and even covering a whole book. Yes, it was disgusting and even the old management didn’t seem to really care or offer any kind of help. I know that whole building has it up in the walls; it isn’t just us with potential hazards living with them. Being from Florida, I know my mold and it’s not a good thing once it gets in there. I know they just covered it up with carpet after he left that apartment; I don’t care if its not toxic mold, still do SOMETHING about it! No legal action was taken, but we still have all the evidence just in case. We were thinking about getting a leash for our fuzzy book, they grow up so fast! Yet, after it started yelling FEED ME DESTRUCTO! We had to give it a good bleach bath.
Due to our lease being up soon and the lure of a cheaper, bigger apartment we moved after months of searching for something better, the apartment is very nice and spacious, however the complex isn’t any better than the last except the management is much nicer. However, I can tell you that it’s not the most inspiring place to live, unless you are a cockroach. Being unable to drive and having to work from home this is a huge problem, plus we’ve both decided that we cannot afford another place here right now.
*Here’s the big news and I hope you are sitting down*
We’ve been offered a warm welcome by my father back home in FL; he’s got a huge empty house and a yard for Miss Nomers. As much as I am extremely sad to leave Greenville, it’s the best thing to do right now.
We’ve already weighed the pros and cons and it will be great to save money for a better future and keep Cpt. Spauldad company. Looking forward to having empty, peaceful rooms to decorate and create a great working/living environment for my upcoming and future destruction of social media boredom. We’ve already gotten rid of 75% of our possessions (DO THIS, it’s so refreshing!) and I’ll be flying home in August while Mr. D stays here to prepare for his journey to Florida. We both need a MAJOR change, and as strange as Florida is… home is where the heart is, and honestly, my heart is not in Greenville anymore.
Apartment situations aside, I have LOVED my time here in Greenville, it’s a beautiful, booming city with some amazing people and I will miss many things about it, Coffee Underground, The I-Place Crew, Main Street, Falls Park, TimTV and The Inner Cirkus and The Greenville Social Media Club to name a few things. Without Greenville, there would be no Destructo Deviations. It inspired me to start this website, my career in social media and I will continue to report on all my new adventures in Tampa and beyond! Miss Destructo Europe 2010! Mars 2012? Who knows! Life is too short to be miserable.
Thank you for all your support in these times, it has been more than a bit stressful the past month with not knowing where life was taking me. Sometimes when things seem bad they are nearly just a guide to your next step, I honestly realize that going back is needed to move forward…. Not to mention it will be great to see all my much missed old friends again and be closer to my family there. It’s not a permanent step of course, but it will allow me to save up and plan for my next great adventure! Stay tuned for a completely different and new Missdestructo.com!
Remember that you always have a choice to change your life… as crazy as it may be if it is what will make you happy DO IT. NOW.
