Vegas to LA: The “Most Excellent” Audi Blogworld Roadtrip

Vegas to LA: The “Most Excellent” Audi Blogworld Roadtrip

As some of you might already know I just overcame one of the biggest personal roadblocks recently. That’s right folks, I just obtained my driver’s license after a very long struggle with on the road anxiety after being involved in a car accident when I was young. I know, not as exciting as the rumors of my non driving due to Interpol taking away my license after an “incident”. I have ironically always loved cars, my dad being a car collector and I admit I cried during James Bond when he crashed the Aston Martin. Seriously…

In the ten years of not having a car… I took my time, saved a hell of a lot of money and had one heck of a supportive community of friends that would offer rides when needed. It hasn’t been easy at all but I gotta say that if I actually wasn’t stuck in an apartment or a house due to not having a car, I probably wouldn’t have started this blog or be doing what I am doing today.

If there was any automobile that would embody the essence of what “Miss Destructo” is, it would have to be an Audi…. In a week i’ll be going to the social media/blogger mecca Blogworld in Los Angeles. Being it’s my first time to Los Angeles I had to let the city know I was coming in style. I knew it was a long shot to ask, but I couldn’t think of a better way then to cruise in from Las Vegas in an Audi. So I shot a tweet over to @audi and guess what…. they said yes.

*speechless*

Not only that we’ll be staying at the ultimate in swanky hotels The Cosmopolitian during our few days in Vegas.

My partner in crime for this trip Nate, @nbrown10 will be the wheelman for most of the trip, but you can bet i’ll be behind the wheel in our desert adventures to the city of angels. Again, it’s not good to tweet and drive, so i’ll be documenting our adventure using the Audi Connect in car Wifi. (Yes, the car has it’s own wifi!) and DJ playing the fast paced music playlists that our twitter communities suggested for what we have labeled as the “Miss Destructo’s Most Excellent Audi Blogworld Roadtrip”.

You can read Nate’s post on the trip here….. http://nbrown10.wordpress.com/

Everyone wants an R8 of course, oh and I do….. *winky face* but then I realized there would be no room for our luggage and I can only imagine trying to ask my accountant if speeding tickets are tax deductible. I suggested the next best thing…

*drum roll*

We’ll be driving the 2012 Audi A7 3.0 Quattro, other wise known as the car that brought sexy back.

Before our road trip we stopped by our local Tampa Audi dealer, Crown Audi to check out the A7 and ask our go to Audi guy Joel a few questions and learn what all the buttons do before we launch a rocket or enable the invisible cloaking method into a ditch. Joel gave us his number and said we could text him anytime on the road with a question, now that’s service…. We know the hashtag #askjoel will definitely be used, because who reads the manual on an Audi?

Only a few weeks after getting my license I will be embarking on one of the most  Once in a lifetime experiences that I could only dream about. If you told me a year ago that I would be participating in a road trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in a brand new 2012 Audi A7… yep, that’s just crazy talk. Just goes to show that if you can dream it you can do it.

You’ve got to be ambitious, driven and generally don’t be afraid to help people out even if it is a big brand. Just support them and they will support you back. As Olivier Blanchard says in his book Social Media ROI, companies need to become more “P2P” “People to People” rather than just B2C “Business to Consumer”. Audi realizes the importance of passion… you can see it in the design of their cars let alone the passion of their online community and their outreach to consumer passion through the hashtag #iwantanR8 where they gift one Audi fan that uses the hashtag an R8 to drive for a day.

Follow Nate and I’s “Most Excellent Audi Blogworld Roadtrip” from Las Vegas to Blogworld Los Angeles with the hashtag #audiroadtrip,

HUGE thanks to you damn people that believe in me. You make this all happen. Big ups and upstairs hugs to… Cosmopolitian Las Vegas, Rehan C. Audi, Paul and Andy from Audi’s Social Media Team. Joel from Crown Audi in Clearwater, Starbucks Iced Chai Lattes, Albert Einstein, Blogworld, McDonald’s McNuggets, The Las Vegas Police Department and whatever the hell “Moves Like Jagger” is…
